Whisky Whiskey is a video podcast about my exploration of Whisky in all of its forms.
Once I discovered what a Toji was, that’s a Master of Sake by the way, I learned about the Eigashima or White Oak Distillery in Akashi. It’s primarily built for and produces Sake which is Japanese Rice Wine, however for two months of the year their Toji produces Whisky. With a Sake Master at the helm, just how good is it? Let’s find out.

The Kirin Fuji Gotemba Distillery in Japan is located on the foothills of Mount Fuji, and the make Grain, Malt and Blends at their own Single Distillery. Today I review their Single Malt…it is particularly interesting.

Koval is Yiddish for someone who ‘forges ahead’ and was founded by Husband and Wife Team in Chicago, Illinois in the United States specialising in the production of both Organic and Kosher Whiskies. They’ve released a Millet Whisky which is something unusual in the world and as I review it, frankly, I’ve never tasted anything quite like it.

Westward Distillery is part of Portlands growing Distillery Row in downtown Portland. With a strong focus on their fermentation and leveraging their founders experience in Brewing Beer, Westward uses locally sourced Barley from Oregon as well as Wine Casks from a local winery and are turning heads the world over. I review their Pinot Noir Cask offering…and it’s rather good…

Just South of the largest city in New Zealand, the Pōkeno Distillery has rapidly grown to become the largest Single Malt Distillery in New Zealand in a very short time. Hosting their own cooperage and employing a true Scot Cooper to lead the way they’ve established a name for themselves in less than a decade of operation. Their Origin Single Malt is one of their first releases, and it’s rather interesting.

Penderyn broke the 110 year drought of Whisky production in Wales in 2004 when they released their first Whisky. This time I review their Celt offering, which is part of their cooly-themed Dragon Range of Whiskies. Their still design is considered to be unique and designed by a relative of Michael Faraday. It’s interesting that’s for sure, but how does it rate?
